ODS (Open Document Spreadsheet) is an XML-based spreadsheet file format that is actually part of the Open Document Format for Office applications (ODF). It includes text documents, presentation and chart. There are two types of ODF files, one (Type 1) generated in Microsoft’s Outlook Express 5 email client application designed for saving and storing messages in Outlook; the other (Type 2) created by the Calc program included in the StarOffice or the OpenOffice suite. ODS Type 2 is formatted according to the OASIS OpenDocument XML standard. This file type comprises tables, declarations, numerical data, graphs and formulas. Documents feature preludes and epilogues that contain tables and their analyses.
