This problem arises mainly in music saved in the MP3 format. The MP3 audio file has a metadata container called an ID3 tag, which contains the artist’s and the album’s names; and the title, genre, and year of the song. The tag’s function is to give this information to the player so the track can be played. So, when is there a problem? There is a problem when some of the information is missing from the ID3 tag. This is mainly the case with music downloaded from the web. They either have no ID3 tags, or when they do, some information is missing. So you can't sort your files by artists or genre. The only wayto fix that, is to edit the ID3 tags. By editing, we mean that we either add, delete, or rename any of the tag data. This editing is done by using an ID3 tag editor. Several tag editors are available in the market today, Total Audio Tags from CoolUtils being the most easy to use. You just have to feed the software with the information that you need to edit, add, or delete – either a single piece of information, or in batch - and the software does it for you. Editing ID3 tags in batch is always simpler and faster. Even where ID3 tags are not corrupted, they can be edited to reorganize music files on your PC. This is especially useful when you have lots music files saved up. You can edit the tags any way you wish and arrange the files accordingly. This will make searching for files easier. |
