Problems with extracting pages from PDF files created with older version of acrobat

Hello,

We have tried using both the total PDF converter and the PDF splitter to extract pages from PDF files that are being emailed to a client of ours. Most of the time we are successfully able to extract the files correctly.

Occasionally however, we run into file that when we try and convert them the results that we get from the page extraction using these tools are 15 byte PDF files. What we have found in these cases as a common thread in the files that have this problem is that they usually are (PDF version 1.3 Acrobat 4.x)

We are not seeing any errors appear, but especially in PDF converter it will hang on those files after creating the 15 byte file.

Is there some flag I can use to get these files to work? Is there something else in the PDF file properties I should look at to see why these files are not being extracted properly.

Let me look and make sure I can find some that do not have sensitive information on them and I will send them to that email address. A number of the images we are dealing with contain sensitive information.
