Total Mail Converter hangs

Just purchased TMC (v3.1.0) and it continually hangs when converting .MSG files (all text) to TEXT (one file). The program keeps hanging on what appears to be random points. I have tried breaking the folder of msgs into smaller batches and it will eventually fail at some point. I only have to convert 365 msgs. Any secrets to getting this to run through all msgs?

WinXP (also tried Win7)
