Rename a group of files or folders

Simple mode

In this mode you can rename files of folders according to templates below.

Templates

If you want to rename files or folders using templates check the box Predefined action. In the upper right corner you will see the list of templates.

Selecting one of them you can

• Convert to lowercase letters - Convert the letters of the names to lowercase letters
• Convert to uppercase letters - Convert the letters of the names to uppercase letters
• Convert to uppercase the first letter of every word - Convert to uppercase the first letter of every word
• Replace blanks by underscores - if the name of the file consists of 2 or more words, the blanks between them will be replaced by undercores
• Your scheme - use you scheme that can be saved by the button "Settings\Save"

Replace

If you want to replace a part of the name check the box Replace.

In the appeared table in the field Search give the settings of the search. In the field Name part enter the part of the name you want to replace, the select search mode in Search mode :

• first occurrence in entire name - first occurrence in entire name
• first occurrence in file name - first occurrence in file name
• first occurrence in file extension - first occurrence in file extension
• any occurrence in entire name - any occurrence in entire name
• entire name - replace the whole name
• entire extension - replace the whole extension

• any text(Text),
• date or time ( Date/Time )
• number (Numbers set the first numbers and the number of chars)
• part of the file (File part you can either insert the date of change or mp3-tag for mp3 files

Insert

MultiRename allows you to insert to the file name any text, date, time or number. For this check the box Insert .

• any text(Text),
• date or time ( Date/Time )
• number (Numbers set the first numbers and the number of chars)
• part of the file (File part you can either insert the date of change or mp3-tag for mp3 files

You can insert new parts to:

• At the beginning of file name
• At the end of file name
• Before extension dot
• After extension dot

The results will be immediately displayed in Preview window (New file name).
To apply the settings select File\Rename or press the button Rename.
Undo renaming by File\Undo Rename in the main toolbar or press the button Undo.
