EPS cannot store live transparency: drop shadows and overlapping semi-transparent objects are flattened on export, which is the reason Adobe recommends PDF or AI for modern artwork. An EPS holds one page only. The embedded preview is low resolution, so a file looks blurry in programs that show the preview instead of rendering the PostScript. Files with embedded bitmaps and fonts grow large.
