Split Tiff Files in Subfolders

Tiff Splitter is a simple program with one major option - splitting TIFF multi-page files to one-page images. It handles single files or entire folders at once.

Quick answer: To split TIFF files across subfolders, install Tiff Splitter, select the source folder on the left, tick Process subfolders so nested files are included, set the output folder on the right, optionally enable Convert to JPEG, then press Split. Every page is saved separately and the originals stay intact.

Multi-page TIFF files often serve for design projects or scanned documents. A lot of scanners combine scanned pages into one file that is not always comfortable for a user. With the help of Tiff Splitter you can split TIFF files by pages in bulk via basic user inerface or command line.

The basic mode provides you with one-page parts of the original documents in TIFF format. As a source you can a select single file or a file folder. If your original folder contains child folders with files you'd like to split, check off Process subfolders. As a result, the program will split TIFF files in subfolders too.

There is one more interesting option. Information in TIFF is too heavy, it takes a lot of memory space to save split pages in tiff. That's why the program offers conversion to JPEG on the go. After splitting you will have the original pages each saved to a separate JPEG file. This way you will compress your images up to 10 times.

It is very simple:

  • After opening TiffSplitter you will see a small two-tab window;
  • Select the source for splitting on the left-side tab;
  • Specify location for splitted TIFF parts at the right-hand tab;
  • Press "Split!"

TiffSplitter works from the command line, and you will see the help button for this mode in the program window. A set of simple commands is required to split TIFF images to pages via 'cmd' window. Also this TIFF splitter is available through the right-click file menu. When you click on any TIFF file icon by the right mouse button, you will see a menu with 'Split' item. Clicking on this menu item will open TIFF Splitter's window.

Try this program for free during 30 days. It is much easier than any other splitting tool!

"Our scanner batches everything into multi-page TIFF files organized in nested subfolders. Tiff Splitter's Process subfolders option meant we did not have to flatten our directory structure first. Every scanned page came out as its own file with the originals left untouched."

Splitting TIFF Files in Subfolders — FAQ ▼

How do I split TIFF files that are inside subfolders?

Open Tiff Splitter, select the parent folder on the left, and check the Process subfolders option. When you press Split, the program splits the TIFF files in every nested folder, not just the top level.

How do I split a multipage TIFF into one-page files?

Select the source on the left tab, choose an output folder on the right tab, then press Split. Tiff Splitter saves each page of the multipage TIFF as a separate file.

Does Tiff Splitter change my original files?

No. The program writes new single-page files to the output folder and leaves the original multipage TIFF documents untouched, so nothing in your source folders is overwritten.

Can I convert the split pages to JPEG?

Yes. Tick the Convert to JPEG option before splitting. Each page is saved as a JPEG instead of TIFF, which can compress the images up to ten times and save a lot of disk space.

Can I split many TIFF files in one run?

Yes. Tiff Splitter processes a whole folder, or many folders with Process subfolders enabled, in a single batch. You do not have to open each file by hand.

Is there a command-line way to split TIFF files?

Yes. Tiff Splitter works from the command line and shows a help button for that mode in the program window. A short set of commands splits TIFF images to pages from a cmd window, which is handy for automation.

Can I split a TIFF using the right-click menu?

Yes. Tiff Splitter adds a Split item to the Windows right-click menu. Right-click any TIFF file and choose Split to open the program ready to process it.
