What is OptimFROG (OFR)?
Files with extension .OFR are of OptimFrog format. OptimFROG is a lossless audio compression program, similar with ZIP. It permits bit identical restoration for all input, but manages to make the size of the file as small as possible. OptimFROG was first introduced in December 2001. At that time it became quite popular due to the better compression than all existing lossless audio compressors.
OptimFROG is fast. The default mode encodes CD quality audio data at 12.4x real-time and decodes at 17.4x real-time on AMD Athlon XP 1800+, which is quite all right (compared to the fastest mode that encodes at 28.1x real-time and decodes at 24.7x real-time). Besides, it has Windows and Linux versions, fully featured input plug-ins for the foobar2000, Winamp2, Winamp3, dBpowerAMP, XMPlay and XMMS audio players, optimal support for all integer PCM wave formats up to 32 bits and an extensible streamable compressed format.
But keep in minf that in spite of all advantages OFR files are not supported by most of modern audio players. To make your ofr music compatible with any player you should convert it to MP3, WAV, WMA, FLAC, OGG. Total Audio Converter will help you do that in seconds.
