Description	DGN (short for design) is the native CAD drawing format of Bentley MicroStation, inherited from the Intergraph IGDS system. A single .dgn file stores 2D and 3D vector geometry together with levels (layers), cells, text, dimensions, line styles and attachments to other design files, so one drawing can pull in a whole set of related models. Two incompatible generations are still in circulation: the older V7 (ISFF) files written by MicroStation up to version J, and V8 files introduced in 2001, which use a compound-document container and add named levels, unlimited undo and design history.
