An .asice file is a signed container — a ZIP package that holds one or more documents together with their digital signatures and validation data, used across the EU under eIDAS. To open it the normal way you need signature-validation software, and even then the document inside may be locked behind the signature layer. Converting ASICE to DOC extracts and renders the contained document as an editable Word file, so you can read and reuse the content without validation tools.
A .asice file is an ASiC-E container (Associated Signature Container, Extended), a format defined by ETSI and used under the EU eIDAS regulation for digitally signed documents. Estonia, for example, uses it widely for officially signed files. Technically it is a ZIP package that bundles one or more documents together with their digital signatures and the validation data needed to prove them. The container keeps the signed content and its proof in a single file, which is why it normally requires dedicated software to open and verify.

The converter opens the .asice container, which is a ZIP package, and locates the document or documents inside it. The contained file is read and its content is rendered into an editable Word document — text, paragraphs, and basic layout. The signature and validation data, which exist to prove the file rather than to be read, are set aside so the focus stays on the document itself. The result is a standard .doc file you can open in Word or LibreOffice and work with, without running signature-validation software.
