How do I convert an HTM file to Excel online?

What is the difference between .htm and .html?

None — they are the same format. The 3-character .htm extension was required by MS-DOS and early Windows file systems. Modern systems support 4-character extensions, so .html became standard. Old web servers, legacy intranet applications, and pre-2000 web archives commonly used .htm. The converter processes both identically.

What if the HTM page has multiple tables?

Each distinct table element in the HTM file is extracted as a separate worksheet in the output Excel workbook. The worksheets are named Sheet1, Sheet2, etc. in the order the tables appear in the HTML source. Nested tables (a table inside another table cell) are treated as cell content rather than a separate worksheet.

Should I choose XLS or XLSX output?

Choose XLSX unless you need to support legacy systems. XLSX supports up to 1,048,576 rows and 16,384 columns, produces smaller files, and is the default for Excel 2007 and later. XLS is limited to 65,536 rows — relevant only when your HTM table is unusually large. Use XLS only for compatibility with systems that cannot open XLSX.

What if the HTM page uses JavaScript to render table data dynamically?

The converter processes the HTML source file as static markup. JavaScript-generated content (tables built by React, Angular, or loaded via AJAX) is not rendered — it does not appear in the source HTML the converter reads. To extract JavaScript-rendered tables, use your browser's developer tools to copy the rendered HTML after the page loads, save it as a new HTM file, and convert that.

Can I batch convert multiple HTM files to Excel?
