| Description | JPG is the file format for images made by digital cameras and spread throughout the world wide web. Saving in JPG format an image loses its quality, because of the size compression. But at the end you have a much smaller file easy to archive, send, and publish in the web. These are the cases when an image's size matters more than image's quality. Nonetheless, by using professional software you can select the compression degree and so affect the image's quality. |

| Description | MP4 files can contain video and sound data. It is a file container that supports different multimedia content types such as multiple audio streams, subtitles, 2D and 3D image frames. MP4 is also used for streaming media services (online or digital TV). This file type supports the control of transmission speeds for media signal, as well as correcting corrupted frames. Thanks to comparatively low system requirements, MP4 is now the most popular container type for sharing media. |

Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn video posts require MP4 — they do not accept static image uploads for video slots. Converting a set of JPG photos to MP4 assembles them into a slideshow video where each image is displayed for a set duration. No video editor, no iMovie, no Canva subscription required. Upload your photos, get a standard MP4 ready to post on any platform.
JPG-to-MP4 conversion takes a sequence of JPEG images and encodes them as video frames in an H.264 MP4 container. Each photo is displayed for a fixed duration — typically 2–3 seconds — before cutting to the next. The output is a standard MP4 file with no audio track (silent video) that plays in any media player and uploads to any video hosting service.
The converter places images in alphabetical/numerical filename order. To control the sequence, rename your files with numeric prefixes before uploading: 001.jpg, 002.jpg, 003.jpg…

The converter encodes each uploaded JPEG as a video frame and assembles the frames into an H.264 video stream in an MP4 container. The output video resolution matches the resolution of the source images — 1920×1080 JPEGs produce a Full HD (1080p) MP4; 4K photos produce 4K video. JPEG compression artifacts in the source images carry through to the video output, so higher-quality source photos produce sharper video.
The output MP4 is silent. To add background music or narration, import the MP4 into a video editor (iMovie, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut) or use the desktop Total Movie Converter, which supports audio track mixing.
