Example. On 7 October 2026 we converted a small test file with two sheets: Orders with the table Order lines (four items with quantity, unit price and order date) and Summary with the table Totals, where the total quantity is a SUM over the Orders sheet. The XLSX that came back contained:

One worksheet per table. The worksheets are named after the Numbers sheet and table: Orders_Order lines and Summary_Totals. Names that are too long for Excel are shortened to fit.
Values and dates. Quantities and prices are number cells, the order dates are date cells in the original format (02 Mar 2026), and the header row is bold.
Formulas. The SUM over another sheet arrived as the plain number 95, not as a formula, so it does not change when you edit the quantities in Excel. In our tests formulas that use only cells of their own table stayed formulas, while formulas that point to another table or sheet arrived as values.
Active worksheet. The workbook is saved with the last worksheet (Summary_Totals) active, so it opens there.

Charts and some pictures may not arrive: in our tests a Numbers file with a chart produced a workbook without it. The test file was written with a library, not exported from Apple Numbers, so check your own file the same way.
