PPT File

File extension .PPT, .PPS

DescriptionThe PPT is the file format used in Microsoft Office OS earlier than 2007 for creating presentations in PowerPoint. The PPT is a binary file, which is a set of separate slides. It can be created from a template or not and edited when you need. It contains multimedia (images, graphs, video, sounds), text and various effects, such as transitions from slide to slide. PNG File

File extension .PNG
CategoryImage File
DescriptionPNG images provide lossless compression, that is why the quality of the picture is nice, but the size of the file is huge. Because of it this file format is used by photographers. PNG may have several layers of transparency and even include short text descriptions which help search engines to examine the file. Although PNG was developed to replace GIF and partly other formats, it doesn’t support animation since it can’t contain several images like GIF.

PPT to PNG Converter — Frequently Asked Questions ▼

One PNG per slide. A presentation with 20 slides produces 20 PNG files, numbered sequentially (slide1.png, slide2.png, etc.) and packaged in a ZIP archive for download. A single-slide presentation downloads as a single PNG file directly.
The online converter renders slides at standard screen resolution (96 DPI), which is suitable for web use, email, and embedding in documents. For print-quality output at 150 or 300 DPI, use Total Doc Converter (desktop) which provides configurable DPI output.
No. PNG is a static image format. Each slide is rendered as a single still image showing the final state of all animated elements (as they appear in Normal view). Slide transitions and animations are not represented — you get one PNG per slide, not one per animation step.
Yes. The converter reads the PPT binary format (BIFF8/PowerPoint 97-2003) directly without requiring Microsoft PowerPoint. Both legacy .ppt and modern .pptx files are supported.
No. Speaker notes are not rendered in the PNG output. Only the visible slide content (text boxes, images, shapes, charts) is captured. The PNG represents what appears on screen during presentation — not the notes panel.
The converter uses font substitution for fonts not available server-side. Common fonts (Arial, Calibri, Times New Roman, Helvetica) are available and render correctly. Custom or unusual fonts may be substituted with the nearest available font, which can affect text layout. Embedding fonts in the PPT before conversion improves accuracy.
Total Doc Converter (Windows, $49.90) converts PPT to PNG in batch from the command line: `TotalDocConverter.exe C:\ppt_slides C:\png_output /ConvertTo png /ProcessRecursively`. DPI and image size are configurable, making it suitable for automated e-learning content pipelines.

Convert PPT to PNG Online

Converting a PowerPoint presentation to PNG images is the standard way to embed slides in documents, publish them on the web, or share individual slides without requiring PowerPoint. Each slide becomes a separate PNG file — lossless, high-resolution, and transparent-background-ready. No fonts needed on the recipient's machine, no rendering differences across OS versions.

What Is PPT?

PPT is Microsoft PowerPoint's binary presentation format, used through Office 2003. It stores slides, notes, animations, and embedded media in a single file. PPT files require PowerPoint (or a compatible application) to view as intended — fonts, SmartArt, and animation data are embedded in a proprietary binary structure. For distribution or embedding in other tools, PPT needs to be converted to a static format. The modern equivalent is PPTX, but billions of legacy PPT files exist in corporate archives.

What Is PNG?

PNG (Portable Network Graphics) is a lossless raster image format designed for screen use. Unlike JPEG, PNG does not degrade image quality on each save — text stays crisp, lines stay sharp, and colors remain accurate. PNG supports alpha transparency, making it the preferred format for slide images that will be placed on colored backgrounds in Word documents, web pages, or design tools. PNG is universally supported in browsers, office suites, and image editors with no plugin required.
