We archive conference presentations every year — dozens of PPT files from external speakers. Batch conversion to PDF locks in the layout regardless of what fonts the speaker used.

Distributing investor decks as PDFs means recipients can't accidentally edit them. Converts perfectly and retains embedded images and chart colors from the original PPT.

Used it on a folder of legacy PPT files from 2003–2010. Every file converted cleanly — no missing fonts, no broken slides. Exactly what I needed for the archive project.

FAQ: Convert PPT to PDF Online ▼

PPT is Microsoft PowerPoint's legacy binary presentation format, introduced in Office 97. Each slide stores text, images, shapes, and formatting in a proprietary binary structure. The format was replaced by PPTX (Open XML) in 2007, but millions of .ppt files remain in circulation in corporate archives and university repositories.
PDF removes the dependency on Microsoft Office. Recipients on macOS, Linux, iOS, or any browser can open a PDF without any special software. Additionally, PDF embeds fonts so the presentation renders identically on every device — no font substitution, no layout shifts.
Yes. The converter embeds the fonts used in the presentation directly into the PDF output. Text boxes, image positions, background fills, and table structures are preserved. Slide transitions and animations are not carried over — PDF does not support animation — but all visual elements on each slide appear as static content.
PDF (Portable Document Format) is a fixed-layout document standard developed by Adobe in 1993 and now an open ISO 32000 standard. It captures the exact visual appearance of a document — fonts, images, geometry — and reproduces it identically on any device and printer. PDF files can be password-protected, digitally signed, and compressed.
Speaker notes are stored in a separate layer in PPT. The online converter exports each slide as a visual page and does not include speaker notes. If you need notes in the PDF output, use the desktop Coolutils Pro Bundle ($49.90), which provides export options including notes pages.
The online PPT to PDF converter accepts files up to 50 MB. If your presentation contains many high-resolution images and exceeds this limit, use the desktop Total PDF Converter ($49.90), which handles files of any size and supports batch conversion of entire folders.
The online tool processes one file per conversion. For batch conversion — dozens or hundreds of .ppt files converted automatically — use the desktop Total PDF Converter ($49.90). It supports command-line operation, letting you script unattended batch jobs on a server or local PC.

Convert PPT to PDF Online — Preserve Fonts, Layout, and Every Slide

PowerPoint's .ppt format dates to Office 97 and remains locked inside the Microsoft ecosystem. Recipients without Word 2003 or Office compatibility packs cannot open the file — they see nothing or get a garbled mess. PDF fixes that: the layout is frozen at the moment of export, every font is embedded, and the file opens identically in any browser, on any OS, without any Office installation. Whether you are submitting a conference paper, sharing a client proposal, or archiving a board presentation, PDF is the format that survives the journey.

What Is a PPT File?

PPT is the binary presentation format introduced by Microsoft in PowerPoint 97. It stores slides as a series of records in a proprietary binary structure. The format was superseded by PPTX (an Open XML zip archive) in Office 2007, but .ppt files remain common in corporate archives, university lecture repos, and legacy shared drives.

How PPT to PDF Conversion Works

The converter parses the PPT binary stream, reconstructing each slide's drawing layer: text boxes, images, shapes, and background fills. Fonts referenced in the PPT are resolved and embedded in the PDF output so the recipient sees the correct typeface regardless of what is installed on their machine. Each slide maps to one PDF page at the same aspect ratio (typically 4:3 or 16:9). Slide transitions and animations are discarded — PDF has no animation model — but all visual content on each slide is preserved as static vector and raster layers.
