WPS is the proprietary document format of Microsoft Works, a budget word processor that Microsoft discontinued in 2007. Windows no longer ships a WPS viewer, and modern Office versions dropped their WPS import filter after Office 2010. The result is that millions of legacy WPS documents — school essays, letters, home records — are effectively stranded on older PCs or backups, unreadable on current systems. Converting to PNG lets you view and share the content immediately.

Will the PNG accurately show the WPS document's layout?

Yes. Converting to PNG rasterises each page at a fixed resolution, producing a pixel-accurate snapshot of how the document looked in Microsoft Works: text, paragraph formatting, embedded clip art, page borders, and tables. Nothing reflows or gets lost through format compatibility gaps, which can happen when trying to open WPS in Word.

How many PNG files will I get from a multi-page WPS document?

Each page of the WPS document becomes a separate numbered PNG file. A five-page Works document produces five .png images. The online converter accepts one WPS file per upload, up to 50 MB. Is the text in the PNG searchable or selectable?

No. PNG is a raster image format, so the output contains pixels rather than selectable text. You cannot copy or search text in the PNG directly.
