One PNG per document page. A 5-page RTF document produces 5 PNG files, numbered sequentially, packaged in a ZIP archive for download. A single-page document downloads as a single PNG file directly.

What DPI resolution are the output PNG images?

The default is 150 DPI, which produces images sharp enough for on-screen use and email. For print publication or inclusion in high-resolution documentation, 300 DPI is available. At 300 DPI, an A4 page renders at approximately 2480 × 3508 pixels — suitable for print without visible pixelation.

Are headers, footers, tables, and images from the RTF included in the PNG output?

Yes. The converter renders the full print layout of each page, including headers, footers, tables, inline images, and all text formatting. The PNG is a complete visual record of the printed document page — the same content that would appear if you printed the RTF from a word processor.

Why use PNG instead of JPG for RTF output?

PNG is lossless — text in the rendered document, table borders, and sharp typographic elements render without JPEG compression artifacts. For document pages where text legibility is critical, PNG produces noticeably sharper output. Use JPG when file size is the primary concern and slight compression artifacts on text are acceptable.

Can the PNG output be used for OCR processing?

Yes. PNG is accepted by OCR engines including ABBYY FineReader, Tesseract, and OmniPage. For best OCR results, convert at 300 DPI in grayscale or bitonal mode. While TIFF is often the preferred input format for OCR pipelines, PNG at 300 DPI produces equivalent recognition accuracy for most engines.

Will fonts in the RTF file render correctly if they are not installed on the server?

The converter substitutes missing fonts with similar system fonts during rendering. For common fonts (Times New Roman, Arial, Courier), substitution is seamless. For unusual or proprietary fonts, visual differences may appear. For guaranteed font-accurate output, embed fonts in the RTF file before conversion.
