WPD is the document format from Corel WordPerfect, the office suite that dominated word processing in the 1980s and 1990s before Word took over. WPD is the native document format for Corel WordPerfect, first released in 1979 and the dominant word processor of the 1980s. WPD files store text with rich formatting, reveal-codes metadata, tables, equations, and macros in a binary structure documented by Corel. Native support remains in WordPerfect Office and LibreOffice; Word can no longer open WPD as of Office 2013.
